Victory Takes Ironbirds to 17-10
|
Aberdeen pitcher Bill Herrera did his part in helping his team beat the Long Island Ducks, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Edwin Tenorio, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. Aberdeen raised its record to 17-10 with the win.
The Ironbirds got a big at-bat from center fielder Rich Maynard. For the game, Maynard went 1 for 5 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Aberdeen a 2-1 lead.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Herrera.
