Clayton goes 3-for-3, Leads Nationals to Win
|
The Washington Nationals satisfied the home crowd at Nationals Park, treating them to a season-opening win, 12-6, over the Detroit Tigers. Left Fielder Isaiah Clayton was the standout performer for Washington. Washington reliever Ross Barajas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jermaine Spencer took the loss.
Washington grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, Nate Padgett delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 6-5 in favor of the Nationals.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Washington manager Angel Cisneros.
