Bird Powers Hurricane Offense
|
The Houston Hurricane powered past the Beaverton Bulldogs, 8-7, at Mission Control Field. Dan Bird went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. Houston reliever Bob Ingram got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Juan Ramos was tagged with the loss. Houston currently is in 5th place in the RIPL at 24-27.
Bird had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Curt Clarke, he banged a 2-run double to right-center, giving the Hurricane a 8-6 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Bird.
"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Bird.
