The home crowd had a good time watching the Providence Grays and Washington Palace Nine get after it.
Mitch Tyler was a major contributor to the 5-1 Washington win over Providence. The Palace Nine left fielder went 2 for 2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Pepe Martínez, now 14-4, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1.
Tyler contributed in the bottom of the first. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Washington get the win.
"I thought we played a nice game," Tyler told the Washington Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the victory, the Palace Nine upped their record to 74-50.
