5 Hits for Suns Walters
Saturday, August 9th , 2053
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Bob Walters -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at St. Petersburg Stadium and paced the 16-5 Suns win over the Jefferson City Capitols.
After his dynamite batting performance, the St. Petersburg second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Bob Walters singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Chris Fain in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 7th.
Walters is swinging at a .302 pace on the year with 23 home runs, 64 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has played in 87 games.
