Pérez Catches up on Yard Work -- Slams 4 Homers Monday, July 31st , 2051 Nothing could stop Tomás Pérez today -- certainly not the Jefferson City Capitols pitching staff. The 22-year-old second baseman for the Racine Spiders sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Spiders Den and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Spiders took a 12-11 win over the Capitols. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Capitols manager said later. "He clobbered us." Pérez's dream game included 5 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 homers, 9 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Pérez told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." Tomás Pérez hit a two-run home run off Pepe Escobar in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Pepe Escobar in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Luis Hernández in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Dave Strahan in the 10th.
