Dodgers Defeat Warhounds, 1-0
|
Carolina got a big-time effort from pitcher Carl Rose, but it wasn't enough to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers from winning the game, 1-0. Rose threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Los Angeles reliever Dave Wilson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-4. Ron McSween was saddled with the loss. The win brings the Dodgers to 12-15, an inauspicious start for a team that made the playoffs last season.
The Dodgers procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Emílio Méndez. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"This place sure got loud," said Charles Musgrave, the Los Angeles manager.
