The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Seattle Mariners, 4-3. Starting pitcher Paul Martin played a key role in the triumph. Martin went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-2. The Red Sox raised their record to 16-18.

The Red Sox benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the first. With Arturo Torres at bat and Boston leading 1-0, the Seattle miscue allowed Boston to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
