Angels Stymie Seattle, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Los Angeles Angels went home winners at Safeco Field, thanks in large part to starter Norberto Guzmán. Guzmán silenced the Seattle Mariners, enabling Los Angeles to grab the 4-1 win. Jake Wilson closed the door for Los Angeles, picking up his 30th save of the year. Even with the win, the Angels have a dismal 54-101 record.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Angels had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the second, when second baseman Alex Shilvock hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Xing-yun Fou and made the score 2-0, Angels. Shilvock went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Angels manager Max Steckler. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
