Nationals Win at Atlanta, 5-4
|
Fans who came to Turner Field watched the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves fight to the finish.
Washington right-hander José García made an effective start against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field, leading his team to a 5-4 win. Tomás Parra was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 37 of 41 save opportunities.
John Ross went 2 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Washington. The three-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a 2-run double off Don Dixon. It was his 48th double of the season.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Washington manager Ryan Martin.
The Nationals bumped their record to 84-71 with this latest triumph.
