Blue Jays Fall Short at Boston
|
The Boston Red Sox topped the Toronto Blue Jays by the score of 3-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Steve Lewis. Lewis went 1-3 with a home run for the Red Sox on the day. Boston reliever Christian Webb picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. José Rodríguez absorbed the loss. Boston, now 59-98, holds last place in the American League Eastern Division.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Red Sox had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the tenth, when left fielder George Case hit a run-scoring double. The double came off José Rodríguez and made the score 3-2, Red Sox. Case went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Lewis. "And not try to do too much."
