Blue Jays Deal Red Sox 4-3 Loss
|
The Toronto Blue Jays trumped the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, at Fenway Park. Toronto designated hitter John Alcorn was terrific. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Blue Jays raised their record to 22-31.
Toronto used the clutch hitting of Guy Donnelly to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Blue Jays the lead, 4-3. For the game, Donnelly had 1 single and 2 doubles in 4 at-bats.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Donnelly. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
