Warhounds Suffer 4-2 Setback
|
The Minnesota Twins trumped the Carolina Warhounds, 4-2, at Target Field. Minnesota third baseman Rafael Negrete was terrific. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Stanley Bond in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Daniel Valad took the loss. Getting the save was Víctor Ortega, his 17th.
Had Ronald Livingston not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Livingston hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Twins.
"I like what I saw today," said Minnesota manager Brian Odeja, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Minnesota is now 34-20, while Carolina is 25-29.
