Cleveland left fielder Luis Aranda pounded Tampa Bay Rays pitchers at Progressive Field, but it was not enough to keep the Indians from falling, 7-6 in Game 1 of the Divisional. Aranda slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Indians slip to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-5 series.

Tampa Bay right fielder Pedro Valentín helped the Rays go up, 2-0, in the top of the third inning. With the game tied, Valentín hit a 2-run home run off Cleveland pitcher Don Donaldson.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Valentín told the Tampa Bay Today.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The scheduled starters for the game are Carl Morris for Tampa Bay and Roberto Ramos for Cleveland.
