Chicago Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
With right fielder Harry Casz leading the charge, the Chicago White Sox got a road win over the Cleveland Indians, 3-1, in Game 1 of the Wild Card Round today. Casz went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times at Progressive Field to help Chicago take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.
Casz had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the top of the eighth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The White Sox went on to win.
Indians manager Randy Pickard did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."
Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday at U.S. Cellular Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Luis García for Cleveland and Craig Wright for Chicago.
