Almost There: Colorado On Cusp of R3 Triumph After 4-2 Win
|
The Colorado Rockies moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Cleveland Indians at Coors Field by a score of 4-2. Rockies right-hander Jon Young was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Rockies a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Michael Newsome aided the Colorado cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop was 1-3 with a triple.
"This team is on a mission," said Young, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Coors Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Tony Berglund for the Cleveland Indians and Bryan Smith for the the Colorado Rockies.
