Colorado Moves on to World Series
|
Duane Hansen said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the League Championship Series until he was shown his own statistics.
The Colorado Rockies right fielder put up a .471 average with 4 home runs, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Rockies advancing to the World Series, with a 4-1 series win over the Cleveland Indians.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."
The series victory had become official with a 7-5 triumph at Coors Field. Even if Hansen is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.
"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.
The Colorado Rockies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the San Diego Padres - Carolina Warhounds series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
