4-3 Triumph Takes Washington to 61-20
|
Montreal second baseman Paul Colbourne was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Washington beat the Expos, 4-3. The winner was Fernando Icaza in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Jack Anderson took the loss. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Nationals.
Rusty Tucker had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Washington. He came through with a 2-run single to put Washington in front, 3-2.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Washington manager Ryan Martin.
