Mariners Win at Texas, 4-3
|
Texas got a decent performance from pitcher Francisco Martínez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Mariners. Seattle won the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington contest, 4-3. Martínez threw 8.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Phil McDonald, the winner, improved to 3-10. He held the Rangers to 1 run on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Joel Miller sewed up the save, his 7th.
John White, the 34-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. White contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Seattle up, 4-1.
White told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The win puts Seattle at 30-54.
