Miami Defeats Oakland, 11-6
|
The Miami Marlins knocked off the Oakland Athletics, 11-6, at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Andrew Cruz produced 2 singles and 1 double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Will Myers in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Wes Brennan took the loss. Francis Norman, credited with the save, is now 7 for 10 in save opportunities.
Cruz had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Wes Brennan, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Marlins a 7-6 lead. It was the 9th double of the year for Cruz.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Cruz told the Miami Herald.
The Athletics, at 33-52, have lost 5 in a row.
