Locke Slugs Indians to 6-2 Win
|
The Cleveland Indians beat the New York Yankees by a score of 6-2. Cleveland right fielder Tony Locke deserved the lion's share of the credit. Locke hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Indians. The winner was Ralph Pace in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Harley Waltenbery took the loss. With the win, the Indians improved to 43-49.
Locke hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to help the Cleveland cause. The home run, which was hit off Harley Waltenbery, allowed Cleveland to take a 1-0 lead.
"I had a good game," said Locke. "Winning makes it even better."
