Girometta Hits 2 home runs in Cardinals Win
|
A 6-RBI performance from Emiliano Girometta, who is a two-time All-Star, helped the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets, 10-4. Mark Guthrie got the win, improving to 9-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The triumph puts St. Louis at 54-44 for the season.
In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, Girometta came to the plate. He hit a grand slam home run off Ryosei Wada to put the Cardinals in the lead, 4-0.
"We came out aggressive," said Cardinals manager Ron Harrison. "We came out swinging the bats."
