Nationals Beat Dodgers, 7-2
|
The first-place Washington Nationals took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in front of a spirited crowd.
Washington pitcher Charlie Linttell did his part in helping his team beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Linttell went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-6. Jeffery Paige converted his 3rd save in 4 tries.
Gabriel Chacón dealt the Dodgers a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Washington leading 2-1, Chacón, who is on pace for 116 RBI this season, hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single.
"I liked his command," said Washington manager Ryan Martin. "Charlie was throwing strikes."
The Nationals, at 66-33, have a comfortable 18-game lead in their division.
