Twins Clonk Blue Jays, 4-2
|
The Minnesota Twins knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2, at Target Field. Ignacio Chávez was a big reason Minnesota won. The center fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. With the win, Minnesota raised its record to 60-39.
Chávez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Minnesota in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Chávez took a slider from Dave Braun and stroked the home run to right-center. His 17th home run of the season allowed the Twins to leap in front, 3-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Toronto skipper Andrew Williams, "and it cost us."
