Yankees Drop White Sox, 7-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.
The New York Yankees got a strong performance from pitcher John Allain, who stymied the Chicago offense en route to a win, 7-1, at U.S. Cellular Field. Allain picked up the win for New York, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2.
New York used a clutch hit from José Costello to get the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In his postgame comments, Yankees manager Mac Mckenzie heaped praise on Allain. "For a young player, he's done a lot of good things for us."
This win makes it 5 in a row for New York.
