Mariners Knock Off Houston, 4-1
|
Seattle and Houston duked it out and the Mariners came out victorious.
Starting pitcher Rod Pearson had a solid game. He was a big reason the Seattle Mariners throttled the Houston Astros, 4-1. In 5 innings, Pearson surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ralph Irwin? The Seattle second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mariners on top, 4-1. For the game, Irwin had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It feels good to get this one," Irwin told the Seattle Observer.
The last-place Mariners now have a win-loss record of 36-64.
