Athletics Rally to Eke Out Win
The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher António Velásquez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oakland. The Athletics won the game, 4-3. Velásquez threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Oakland reliever Ju-il Kae picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Emílio Chávez absorbed the loss. The Astros, now 55-48, have lost 5 in a row.

The Athletics procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Roger McElroy. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Houston manager Shane Callahan.
