Starting pitcher Dave Braun pitched well enough to help the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-3. Lou Markakis converted his 13th save in 17 tries. Toronto is now 49-56.

Luis Román was a prime factor in the win for the Blue Jays. In the bottom of the third with two out, the 31-year old right fielder hit a run-scoring single. He went 1 for 4.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Braun.
