Braves Bridle Yankees, 1-0
|
The New York Yankees got a superb performance from pitcher John Allain, but the Atlanta Braves still won the game, 1-0. Allain threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Nick Taylor got the win, improving to 4-6. He worked 6 innings, giving up no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Picking up the save was Juan Aguilar, his 17th.
The Yankees had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick David Miller came to the plate. Miller hit a solo home run on a 1-2 curveball from New York hurler John Allain. It was Miller's 3rd home run of the year.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Braves manager Justin Buzzotta. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Atlanta, with the win, sits at 30-79.
