The New York Mets took Chicago pitcher Eric Crowley's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citi Field. The final score had New York getting past the White Sox, 6-3. Crowley went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. New York reliever Steve Swift picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Tomoaki Ohashi was tagged with the loss. Pablo Suárez recorded the save for New York, his 11th of the season.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman David López came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Tomoaki Ohashi, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 4-3.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," López told a New York Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The slumping White Sox have lost 6 straight.
