Marlins Shut Out Pirates, 3-0
|
The Miami Marlins faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Steve Morris, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Jose Fernandez Park by a final score of 3-0. Morris went 5.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Miami reliever Drew Griggs got the win, raising his record to 4-10. Steve Morris was tagged with the loss. Francis Norman got the save, his 9th in 14 chances.
The Marlins got a big at-bat from first baseman Juan Rojas. For the game, Rojas was 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Miami a 2-0 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Rojas.
