Rays Suffer 8-6 Setback
|
Baltimore and Tampa Bay duked it out and the Orioles came out victorious.
The Baltimore Orioles withstood an impressive performance by Tampa Bay third baseman Colt Keeling to defeat the Rays, 8-6, at Tropicana Field. Keeling hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Baltimore reliever Valentín Marroquín, now 3-1. The loser was Fernando Gutiérrez. Ernesto Cruz got credit for the save for Baltimore. It was his 26th of the year.
Baltimore relied on the hitting of Héctor Hernández to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Orioles on top, 7-6. For the game, Hernández had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hernández told the Baltimore News.
With the win, Baltimore raised its record to 62-50.
