Texas picked up a win at Fenway Park, bumping off the Boston Red Sox, 5-2. Pitcher Francisco Martínez was a major reason the Rangers emerged victorious. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 12-7. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Texas goes to 79-35. The win puts them 11½ games up in their division.

Texas used the bat of Cary Mench to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Martínez.
