Philadelphia Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
The Washington Nationals topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-0, in National League action at Nationals Park. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and New Orleans, Louisiana, native Henry Summers. Summers picked up the win for Washington, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 11-5. The Nationals, at 78-42, have a comfortable 23-game lead in their division.
The Nationals got an important contribution from left fielder Gabriel Chacón, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-2 curveball into left for a run-scoring double. It was his 26th double of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 2-0.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Chacón told the Washington Observer.
