The Minnesota Twins withstood an impressive performance by Los Angeles second baseman Xavier Martínez to defeat the Angels, 7-5, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Martínez went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Víctor Ortega was credited with the save, his 21st in 23 tries. The Angels, now 61-60, have lost 7 straight.

Minnesota took a 6-4 lead on Geoffrey Foster's 43rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Roy Cruz in the top of the seventh.
