Phillies Drop 10-5 Decision to Nationals
|
Philadelphia first baseman Ezra Schneider had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Schneider was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once, even as Washington beat the Phillies, 10-5. Al Helton snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 3-1 on the season. The Nationals have now won 4 straight.
In the bottom of the sixth, Washington catcher James Cantwell put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 13th double of the year. Philadelphia pitcher Jesús Martínez served it up. Just like that, the Nationals were ahead, 7-5.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Nationals manager Ryan Martin, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
