The Minnesota Twins topped the San Francisco Giants by the score of 5-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Leandro Vargo. Vargo went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Twins on the day. Víctor Ortega converted his 22nd save in 24 tries. With the win, Minnesota raised its record to 72-51.

With Minnesota trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Vargo hit a 2-run single off San Francisco hurler Hideki Nakashima. It was the 133rd hit of the season for Vargo and put his team ahead, 3-2.
