The Seattle Mariners topped the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, in American League action at Great American Ball Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Martin Davis. Joel Miller earned his 15th save in 16 tries. The Mariners sport a record of 48-78.

Rob Altobelli provided a timely hit. The Seattle left fielder delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mariners on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"We ground out the win," said Altobelli. "That's all that matters."
