Nationals Upend Pirates, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between Washington and Pittsburgh, pitcher Henry Summers was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 win. Summers went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 12-6. The Nationals have an impressive 86-44 record.
Washington grabbed control in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Rusty Tucker delivered a 2-run single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Nationals.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Summers.
