10-3 Triumph Takes Washington to 87-44
|
The Washington Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 10-3, at PNC Park. Francisco Lafrosia, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Billy Kemper got the win, improving to 9-2. He worked 5 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. The Nationals lead the National League Southern Division by 26 games.
Washington used the timely hitting of Aureliano Cervantes to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Nationals ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Lafrosia told the Washington Observer.
