Rodríguez goes 3-for-4, Leads Yankees to Win
|
Mariner Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.
New York right fielder Guillermo Rodríguez contributed to his team's 5-3 win over the Seattle Mariners. Rodríguez, who finished 3rd in the AL in hits with 201 in 2066, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Yankees. Ignacio Rosa, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-9. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and no runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Picking up the save was Ricardo Sousa. He's now 1 for 1 in save chances.
With New York leading 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single off Seattle hurler Chris Smith. It was the 147th hit of the season for Rodríguez and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Rodríguez told the New York Chronicle.
The win for the Yankees raised their record to 69-63.
