Astros Win Nail-Biter, 8-7
|
The Houston Astros beat the Minnesota Twins by a score of 8-7. Houston third baseman Francisco González deserved the lion's share of the credit. González hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Astros. Santiago Vásquez, now 4-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 70-63.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 16th inning, when Houston center fielder Tony Barrosa, facing Vincent Jenkins, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Astros the 8-7 win.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said González.
