The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians provided some drama for the home crowd.

Cleveland beat Detroit at Pickard Field, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder Ramón Murillo. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. Paco Bernard, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Jesús Morán, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 36th save.

Had Hubert Merritt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Merritt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Indians.

"We found a way to get it done," Merritt said.

The third-place Indians sport a record of 73-66.
