Warhounds Deal Marlins 8-6 Defeat
|
Miami shortstop David Massey was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Carolina beat the Marlins, 8-6. The winning pitcher was Carl Rose. His record is now 12-10. The left-hander went 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits for the Warhounds. Don Harmon, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Jesse Lane dealt the Marlins a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Carolina trailing 3-2, Lane, who is tied for 9th in the NL in total bases with 292, hit a 0-2 forkball for a 2-run single.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Warhounds manager Jared Margolies. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The loss makes Miami 64-76.
