The Cincinnati Reds trumped the Oakland Athletics, 8-2, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati designated hitter Rubén Reyes was terrific. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Phil Gladue earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings. His record is now 16-2. The last-place Athletics have lost 12 straight games.

Early in the game, Reyes had a 2-run home run for Cincinnati. It was his 51st home run of the season and put the Reds on top, 2-0.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Cincinnati manager Sean Bain.
