Athletics Best Nationals in Pitching Duel
|
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 2-1. Starting pitcher Spike Brown was a big reason why. The Athletics raised their record to 54-92.
Mark Ávila, who finished 5th in the AL in stolen bases with 33 in 2068, aided the Oakland cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk.
Brown called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
