Baca Leads Pirates to 7-5 Win Over Expos
The Pittsburgh Pirates dumped the Montreal Expos, 7-5, in large part due to second baseman Juan Baca. On the day, Baca went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Pirates. Pittsburgh reliever Joe Strahler got the win, raising his record to 6-5. Wan-hua Qiu was tagged with the loss. Curt Williams finished to wrap up his 39th save.

The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Baca, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in doubles with 45, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Pirates into the lead, 4-2.

In postgame remarks, Baca said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."

The win makes Pittsburgh 89-69.
