Diamondbacks Dump San Francisco, 2-1, to Win 4th in a Row
|
Pitcher Gene Pappas was rock solid in helping the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants, 2-1. Pappas, the winner, moves to 14-8. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Don Davis got the save, his 45th in 48 chances.
Jim Andrés, who finished 3rd in the AL in stolen bases with 30 in 2064, aided the Arizona cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"Every loss hurts," said San Francisco manager Tim Ackley. "But this was a tough one."
Arizona has won 4 consecutive games.
