Rays Knock Off Rangers, 3-2
|
Joe Wheeler pitched well, but the Texas Rangers still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Armando Guillén, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-4. Fernando Gutiérrez picked up the save for Tampa Bay, his 23rd of the year.
The Rays got a big at-bat from first baseman Jorge Baca. For the game, Baca was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 45th home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead.
