Angels Rough Up Pirates, 8-1

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-1, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Los Angeles designated hitter Raúl Galló had a superb performance. He went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Phil Williams got the win, improving to 3-2. He held the Pirates to 1 run on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Pittsburgh falls to 10-11.
Stanley Blake dealt the Pirates a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Los Angeles leading 1-0, Blake hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"Good win," said Galló. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down for a little while now."
